Day 144, Minneapolis

Toured the state Capitol with 27 school buses of kids … You can imagine how loud it was ! Nice cap , good history , funny German restaurant in the basement . Favorite portrait on the wall – of Govenor Rudy Perpich and his wife Lola – he insisted she be in the formal portrait because she worked so hard , too ! Contrast that with the Sacramento Capitol where there is no portrait of Schwarzenegger because Maria has it at her house. Arne could have taken a few life lessons from Rudy !

Toured St. Paul Cathedral next . Had forgotten how beautiful it is and all the history it contains . In each Saints’ area they had a stone from their country in front – gorgeous floors even . Devoured their newspaper and all the articles about graduating seniors . Really well done .

After naps for some of us , we headed over to Bob and Cyndi’s for salmon tacos . Perfect ! Joey arrived and the stories and jokes abounded . We’ve made it this far raising Nate and Eliza without having them know how wild their parents might have been growing up and pre-kids, but this visit, Nate was all ears . Of course, Nate’s heard the stories of shooting GI Joe’s off the silo and we think one story is enough .
Bob and Joe have way more than 1 story ! And the kids think Bob’s Ole and Lena jokes are told in a much better accent than mine ! Unconditional love and friendship – doesn’t get much better than this .
