Day 148, Stillwater

Beautiful drive from the campground to Al and Sue’s spectacular property … We were welcomed with open arms and were so happy to be there ! It’s hard to even describe the joy of seeing them again – twice in 4 months . Real, down to earth , honest friends . Doesn’t get much better than that !

This pic below is Al, Dan and Joe relaxing after a morning of morel hunting.

We had so much fun and ate way too much . Al is The Man for homemade brew, and Sue could be a chef . No, I’m not sharing their address !

The men are so wonderful together , it’s so fun to be around them – except for everything they taught Nate … First sip – Uncle Joey , who else ? First storytelling – Uncle Bob . First “yes, Nate let’s light firecrackers that way ” – Uncle Al. For a soon to be 13 year old , it was heaven .

Remember the Brady bunch theme ? Take that and substitute ,

“Here’s a story
About a man called Dan
Who was bringing up one well behaved son,
All his friends still have their hair ,
Even Al,
The youngest one so glad .

Here’s a story
About a man named Dan
Who had 3 friends named Bob and Joe and Al,
They were 4 men, growing up together ,
And they never ever should have been left alone .

Til the one day when the son met the friends
And he listened and broke out of his protective bubble
Then the mom renamed the friends
The Trifecta of Trouble .

That’s the way they all became
The Trifecta of Trouble .”

Really ! I am still laughing from the stories we’ve heard ! And Nate just loved every minute . I knew Joe and Bob were incorrigible, and Al just makes the Trifecta perfect ! Those guys have had some fun together . I’m not even sure how to refute everything Nate heard because Sue and Eliza and I were smart enough to be absent occasionally . I am never , however , never EVER, sending Nate to summer camp in Minnesota !
