Dan is 53, a serious road cyclist and commuter, he just retired from a long banking career.
Sally is 51, although on her last birthday her husband and daughter put “52” candles on her cake and she didn’t mind because she’s so happy with her life. She’s a Jazzercise addict with a strong faith and she loves taking care of her family.
Eliza turns 14 this week and gets her braces off the day before her birthday. She is the sweetest, most kind person we know. She LOVES gymnastics.
Nate is 12 1/2 going on 21. If we’d let him, he’d run the show. He’s smart as a whip, loves playing tackle football and constantly keeps us amused.
Lady is his Golden Retriever and at 9 1/2 she can barely make it up the RV steps, but she’s going along on the trip instead of staying with a friend because Nate wants her along. (That’s what a “good”/crazy parent does for their son right?!)
Jessica is Eliza’s Maltese/Shih Tzu and while adorable, she’s a pill. We think they may have bred her family a little too much. She’s going to be a handful this trip.
We’re a typical family of four, getting ready to head out on our big adventure… travelling around the USA in our RV with kids and pets. We’ve been dreaming and planning this trip for years.
We’ve lived in Bend, Oregon for the past 11 1/2 years and while we thought we’d stay here forever, we are ready to go. We wanted to give the kids a nice place to grow up, but now we want to give the kids the country. There is so much to do and see outside our little paradise and we want them to see it with them!
We leave December 21, 2013 and we have no definite end date!
Dan and I did a smaller version of this trip in 1998. It was heaven. We said if we ever had kids, we would take them. We were supposed to leave in June of 2010, but when the recession hit, we just postponed… so now we get to go… yeehaw!
